This past weekend, nearly 1,000 students gathered at American University of Sharjah (AUS). You might wonder what was interesting enough to cause such a large number of students to spend their weekend on campus. The event that attracted not just AUS students but also students from various different institutions from across the United Arab Emirates (UAE), was the tenth conference of the annual American University of Sharjah Model United Nations (AUSMUN). Although the conference is in its tenth year, many AUS students might still not be aware of what Model United Nations is about, the connection it shares with AUS and who participates in it. Congratulations to AUS Student Research Award Winners

At the annual Student Research Awards ceremony held in the AUS Main Building on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 a total of 47 undergraduate students were honored for original work conducted during Academic Year 2012-2013. The awards were sponsored by Sharjah Islamic Bank (SIB) and BP UAE. SIB was represented by Mr. Khalaf Abdallah, Chief Internal Auditor, while BP UAE was represented by Mr. Oliver Broad, Vice President - Communications and External Affairs.

Dr. Kofi Annan visits Sharjah and AUS

The Former Secretary-General of the United Nations Kofi Annan visited Sharjah to attend the second annual Government Communication Forum (GCF). While in Sharjah Dr. Annan also visited American University of Sharjah (AUS) and toured various parts of the campus.

In his speech on February 24 during the Government Communication Forum (GCF) Dr. Annan said that effective communication helps in resolving governance issues.
