Ramadan etiquette tips for the non-Muslim community at AUS

Every year more than a billion Muslims from all around the world fast for a period of one month. This is the ninth month of the Islamic Calendar, the holy month of Ramadan. Fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam and Muslims fast for this one month duration daily from dawn till sunset. While Muslims in some countries have to fast for around nine hours, fasting time in some of northern hemisphere countries can last for more than 20 hours.

Congratulations to AUS Student Research Award Winners

At the annual Student Research Awards ceremony held in the AUS Main Building on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 a total of 47 undergraduate students were honored for original work conducted during Academic Year 2012-2013. The awards were sponsored by Sharjah Islamic Bank (SIB) and BP UAE. SIB was represented by Mr. Khalaf Abdallah, Chief Internal Auditor, while BP UAE was represented by Mr. Oliver Broad, Vice President - Communications and External Affairs.

AUS Professor Appointed IEEE Distinguished Lecturer

Ghaleb Husseini, Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at American University of Sharjah (AUS) has been appointed as a Distinguished Lecturer (DL) for 2014-2015 by the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS). EMBS is the world’s largest international society of biomedical engineers, having 9,100 members across 97 countries. Dr. Husseini was one of only eight speakers selected worldwide. Of these, two were appointed from the ‘Middle East and Africa’ region - the other being based in South Africa.

AUS professor goes to Harvard for Sabbatical Leave

Two AUS students become Google Ambassadors

Two students from the American University of Sharjah represented the university in the third annual Google Ambassador summit in Amman, Jordan, from June 29 till July 4.
