Sheraa’s Inaugural Showcase Day held at AUS

After working hard on their startup ideas for months, 10 entrepreneurial teams recently had the opportunity to showcase their ideas to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates, Ruler of Sharjah and President of AUS, who attended the Inaugural Showcase Day held at American University of Sharjah (AUS). The ceremony that took place on February 15, 2017 was held under the patronage of Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority, Shurooq.

AUS Professor Examines Radar Technology in Hong Kong

Hasan Mir, Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, CEN, was awarded a Faculty Research Travel Grant in 2012.

How did you use the grant?

The funds were used for a collaborative visit with Dr. Kainam Wong at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HKPU). Dr. Wong is a recognized authority in many areas related to ISR (Information, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) technology. Prior to joining AUS, I was with MIT Lincoln Laboratory, where I researched a variety of aspects related to radar technology.

AUS, the best campus to live-in and study

Being a student at AUS is not just about studying, believe it or not. It is about becoming an active member of its community; developing it as well as developing yourself in the process. What I like about being part of this particular community is the distinct element of diversity present at AUS. No one would feel left out because there is a little bit of something for everyone. And even then, if there isn’t something for you, you could easily create your own student club.

Dr. Kofi Annan visits Sharjah and AUS

The Former Secretary-General of the United Nations Kofi Annan visited Sharjah to attend the second annual Government Communication Forum (GCF). While in Sharjah Dr. Annan also visited American University of Sharjah (AUS) and toured various parts of the campus.

In his speech on February 24 during the Government Communication Forum (GCF) Dr. Annan said that effective communication helps in resolving governance issues.

Marcel Khalife Inspires Attendees at an AUS Talk

“Only music in this world understands me,” said Marcel Khalife in front of his audience at the Main Auditorium of American University of Sharjah (AUS) on Tuesday, March 12.

“Khalife came to speak about poetry and music,” said Abu Dhabi’s Emirates Writers Union president Mohammed Al Marzoui in an interview.

He was invited to the UAE’s Capital by the union and Albayyara Cultural Society to speak about his friendship with the late Mahmoud Darwish as well as his latest CD, The Fall of the Moon, noted Al Marzoui.
