While at American University of Sharjah (AUS), students constantly come across various opportunities beyond the classroom. AUS professor edits an intercultural communication book focusing on the Arab world

There is a need for more books that portray Arabs in a less stereotypical and biased way, an associate professor in the Department of English in the American University of Sharjah (AUS) said in a recent interview.

“Especially after 9/11 and recently with the Arab Spring, Arabs are often portrayed as being aggressive, fanatic and violent, particularly by the Western media,” Dr. Rana Raddawi noted.

Two AUS students become Google Ambassadors

Two students from the American University of Sharjah represented the university in the third annual Google Ambassador summit in Amman, Jordan, from June 29 till July 4.

AUS to participate in 2013 Shell Eco-Marathon Project

The American University of Sharjah (AUS) will participate in Shell Eco-Marathon Asia for the very first time in July 2013. The AUS team will compete in diesel category and take part in Shell Eco-Marathon Asia. The event will take place at the Sepang Ping International Circuit in Kuala Lumpur from July 4-7, 2013. The aim is to go the longest distance on just 1 liter of diesel.

Haley Kallenberg performs at AUS

Have your say on the fate of a colony of feral and abandoned cats at AUS

Everyone on campus is aware that AUS has a colony of feral and abandoned cats. The population of this colony is estimated at between 50 and 100. The Residential Life Committee (RLC) has decided to explore the situation.

Feral cats differ from stray cats. Feral cats have always been, will ever be free roaming. They are almost impossible to make pets. Stray cats on the other hand, once were pets, but got lost or were abandoned. We have a colony consisting of both.
