AUS students attend the Global Leader Experiences program

These inspirational words by McDonald’s co-founder Ray Kroc are a catalyst for leaders and change-makers to bring about transformations in today’s world. It is with this in mind that 13 students from American University of Sharjah (AUS) took part in the Global Leader Experiences (GLE) program held at Dubai Port (DP) World April 5-8, 2015 to learn how to develop leadership qualities within themselves.

AUS professor edits an intercultural communication book focusing on the Arab world

There is a need for more books that portray Arabs in a less stereotypical and biased way, an associate professor in the Department of English in the American University of Sharjah (AUS) said in a recent interview.

“Especially after 9/11 and recently with the Arab Spring, Arabs are often portrayed as being aggressive, fanatic and violent, particularly by the Western media,” Dr. Rana Raddawi noted.

AUS professor conducts research at London School of Economics

In Spring Semester 2014, Karen Young, Assistant Professor in the Department of International Studies, is on leave from AUS and is a visiting researcher at the Middle East Centre (MEC) of the prestigious London School of Economics (LSE), UK. In Summer 2013, Dr. Young was one of four AUS faculty members who spent six weeks at the MEC as part of the Visiting Faculty Fellowship program organized between the Gulf Studies Center at AUS and the LSE. Dr. Young was granted a fellowship to pursue an on-going research project on the political economy of the UAE.

AUS alumna turns to crowdfunding to finance her Olympic dreams

Documentary workshop launched at AUS

A 10-day documentary workshop, conducted by Mass Communication professor Susan Smith, was launched on Monday, November 18, 2013 at the American University of Sharjah (AUS). The event is part of Project Focus, which aims to explore the third-culture-kid (TCK) identity of individuals aged 10-17 and observe how they adapt to their migrant status.

AUS professor goes to Harvard for Sabbatical Leave
