A new laser-based technique has been developed by Dr. Ali Sami Alnaser, Associate Professor in Physics at the American University of Sharjah (AUS). The research will allow scientists to manipulate human cells on a much smaller and more accurate scale.

This innovation could provide insight into how we might cure diseases like cancer.

Visiting Authors Week returns to AUS

Have you ever listened to an electrifying speech, a lecture so great that it held your attention and interest all the way to the end? What about a discussion, a great conversation that enlightened you so much that you didn’t want it to end?

If not or if you just want more of that, then American University of Sharjah (AUS) Visiting Authors Week is a place you should go. Every semester, AUS hosts a series of lectures by renowned authors from all around the world when they come to the UAE for the Sharjah International Book Fair held every fall or the Emirates Airlines Festival of Literature held in the spring. The AUS Visiting Authors Week has brought to AUS prolific writers and speakers such as internationally acclaimed writer and intellectual Professor Wole Soyinka, the first African to win the Nobel Prize for Literature, and many others.
