AUS professor writes a book about science and Islam

Since the formation of the university, the faculty members at American University of Sharjah (AUS) have time and again expressed the talents they possess through the work they do, both at AUS and outside of it. Dr. Nidhal Guessoum, Professor in the Department of Physics at the AUS College of Arts and Sciences, is one such professor. Recently, Dr. Guessoum wrote a book, tentatively named The Young Muslim’s Guide to Modern Science, which tries to harmonize the teachings of Islam with the study of modern science. The book, which is aimed at youth, such as high school students and freshmen, has been completed and Dr. Guessoum is hopeful of publishing it soon.

AUS engineering alumnus awarded prestigious UK Government Chevening Scholarship

Waleed Hijazi, an American University of Sharjah (AUS) alumnus, was awarded the United Kingdom (UK) Government’s Global Scholarship, called the Chevening Scholarship. Hijazi, who graduated from the American University of Sharjah College of Engineering with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in Fall 2013, will receive full tuition and living expenses coverage to attend to Imperial College London to pursue a Master of Science in Transport and Business Management. The program is run jointly by Imperial College London and the University College London.

AUS to improve campus traffic flow

To continue to improve traffic flow on campus, American University of Sharjah (AUS) is conducting a study and implementing new strategies.

According to Fadi Al Seid, Project Management Office Manager at AUS, a special consultant is conducting comprehensive research throughout the campus. The expert installed 12 cameras to analyze traffic patterns, the results of which will be used to implement strategies that will improve traffic flow at AUS.

Sheraa expands its work-space as the center works to boost entrepreneurship
