Every one who wants to go to college want to go to a good college. But one of the main challenges for students selecting a suitable university is cost. This includes tuition, fees, dormitory charges, lab/technology fees, books, stationery, insurance, food and other related costs. Dr. Kofi Annan visits Sharjah and AUS

The Former Secretary-General of the United Nations Kofi Annan visited Sharjah to attend the second annual Government Communication Forum (GCF). While in Sharjah Dr. Annan also visited American University of Sharjah (AUS) and toured various parts of the campus.

In his speech on February 24 during the Government Communication Forum (GCF) Dr. Annan said that effective communication helps in resolving governance issues.

Post-AUS Job Hunt: Survival of the Fittest?

American University of Sharjah’s annual Career Fair draws a great number of students and alumni every year. However, as the demand on jobs increases, graduates are increasingly expected to deliver more to the table.

From the 70 companies that showcased internships, summer training programs and jobs to AUS students, many asked students to register through their websites, some of which, like Siemens, temporarily specified jobs for the AUS community during the period of the fair. Alsayegh Media even offered to sign a contract with an applicant as soon as the clock turned 5 p.m.

Cultures Unite at AUS’s Annual Global Day

Under the theme of “Peace Throughout the World,” 30 countries were represented by their student-based cultural clubs at American University of Sharjah’s (AUS) 15th annual Global Day festival March 14– 15.

The festivities were held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qassimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah and President of AUS, and were inaugurated by Sheikh Sultan Bin Ahmed Bin Sultan Al Qassimi, Chairman of Sharjah Media Corporation.

Have your say on the fate of a colony of feral and abandoned cats at AUS

Everyone on campus is aware that AUS has a colony of feral and abandoned cats. The population of this colony is estimated at between 50 and 100. The Residential Life Committee (RLC) has decided to explore the situation.

Feral cats differ from stray cats. Feral cats have always been, will ever be free roaming. They are almost impossible to make pets. Stray cats on the other hand, once were pets, but got lost or were abandoned. We have a colony consisting of both.

Marcel Khalife Inspires Attendees at an AUS Talk

“Only music in this world understands me,” said Marcel Khalife in front of his audience at the Main Auditorium of American University of Sharjah (AUS) on Tuesday, March 12.

“Khalife came to speak about poetry and music,” said Abu Dhabi’s Emirates Writers Union president Mohammed Al Marzoui in an interview.

He was invited to the UAE’s Capital by the union and Albayyara Cultural Society to speak about his friendship with the late Mahmoud Darwish as well as his latest CD, The Fall of the Moon, noted Al Marzoui.
